TTUHSC's online NP tracks for nurses who live in Idaho
Idaho earns a Meets mark on every TTUHSC graduate table, belongs to the Nurse Licensure Compact and lets NPs practice fully. Its rules say little about clinical placements by schools based elsewhere, so the practical questions are your preceptor's license level and TTUHSC's approval of the site.

Idaho's rules for schools based elsewhere
Two sources set Idaho's program-approval rules: Idaho Code section 54-1406 and Board rule 24.34.01.150 in IDAPA. Both concern programs that operate inside the state. Neither says anything about a school from elsewhere sending students into Idaho clinics. The Board's website does touch on outside schools, but only to tell them to email its licensing staff with their questions. That makes Idaho a question for TTUHSC to settle, and your program director or the Graduate Coordinator can tell you where it stands.
Two Idaho provisions help. Subsection 100.12.a of that same IDAPA chapter is friendly to students: an RN holding a current Idaho license or multistate privilege, once enrolled in a nationally accredited APRN program, may carry out the APRN-level practice its curriculum calls for. A Board education policy adopted in 2024 adds a licensing floor: in every program type, a preceptor's license can never rank below the license the student is preparing to hold. That policy also expects an Idaho APRN license from the instructors in charge of APRN role and population coursework, which is TTUHSC's matter.
License and practice in a compact, full-practice state
Idaho turned on compact licensing in January 2018. A multistate RN license issued to an Idaho resident meets the license condition for TTUHSC's MSN tracks, which accept compact multistate status or a Texas license so long as it is current and unencumbered, and it also supplies the Idaho privilege that the student-APRN rule relies on. AANP lists Idaho among its full practice states. Paired with Idaho's licensing floor for preceptors, that points the search toward licensed NPs, with TTUHSC approving each preceptor and facility.
TTUHSC programs for Idaho residents
At TTUHSC, graduate clinical hours happen near home, and no hour counts until the School of Nursing has approved both the preceptor and the facility.

TTUHSC's program pages add a caution: because rules shift, eligibility for residents of some states cannot be confirmed on the day an application is submitted. Idaho applicants are asked to put that question to Admissions before they apply.
Boise, Coeur d'Alene and the western border
Boise City is by far Idaho's largest metro. Coeur d'Alene leads in the north, while Twin Falls and Idaho Falls serve the south and east. Idaho's main systems include Saint Alphonsus, St. Luke's and, in Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Health. They mark where many clinicians work; a site's own agreement and TTUHSC's approval come separately.
Idaho's western neighbors, Washington and Oregon, both sit on the list of ten states TTUHSC closes to graduate applicants, and Washington also wants its own board's approval before an out-of-state program's clinicals. Can Idaho residents study in TTUHSC's online FNP track?
Yes, Idaho is open: it shows Meets for the MSN nurse practitioner tracks, and TTUHSC adds no note against it. Admission itself is decided by TTUHSC, which wants out-of-state applicants to confirm eligibility with Admissions first. Details on the track are on the FNP program page.
Could an Idaho physician serve as my preceptor?
Idaho's policy puts the preceptor's license at your intended level or higher. How TTUHSC reads that for a physician, and whether one particular physician suits your course, are TTUHSC's calls; the preceptor requirements page explains what TTUHSC approves.
Is there an Idaho Board filing before my rotation?
Idaho's statute and rules cover programs offered in the state and are silent on out-of-state clinical placements. The Board simply tells schools located elsewhere to contact its licensing staff, so the answer comes through TTUHSC; ask your program director before your first rotation.
I live in Idaho. Could I move to Washington or Oregon mid-program?
Both states are closed to TTUHSC graduate applicants. The handbook asks for notice 60 days or more ahead of any move, decides clinical approval case by case, and makes no promise that you can continue. Talk with your program director well before you sign a lease.
