Oregon nurses and TTUHSC's graduate programs
Oregon carries the same short note on TTUHSC's licensure page as its Pacific neighbors: "TTUHSC SON is unable to accept graduate students from this state." An Oregon home address rules out every TTUHSC graduate nursing option, online NP tracks, midwifery and BSN to DNP included. Relocating to Texas, or to a state the list leaves open, brings them back, and Oregon's light-touch rules for outside APRN programs are useful context for nurses licensed there.

The whole Pacific coast shares the mark
TTUHSC's licensure disclosure flags all three West Coast states, so moving up or down the coast leaves the answer where it is. Of Oregon's four neighbors, only Idaho and Nevada are clear of the double asterisk; California and Washington both carry it. Inside Oregon, every graduate table reads the same way.

Before you pack for Texas or another open state
Admissions is the first call. TTUHSC's graduate pages caution that rules keep changing and that the School of Nursing cannot say at application time whether it can take students from certain states, so they invite out-of-state applicants to check eligibility before applying. Give the Admissions Team the address where you will live once classes begin.
Then the license. Oregon has stayed out of the Nurse Licensure Compact, and NCSBN's map lists no pending bill to change that. An Oregon RN license therefore satisfies neither half of TTUHSC's MSN rule (Texas, or compact multistate), and a nurse relocating to Texas should build a Texas license into the timeline. Oregon's board and out-of-state APRN programs
Oregon once asked more of outside NP programs than it does now. Before July 1, 2021, a state rule made NP students from graduate programs outside Oregon get the Oregon State Board of Nursing's go-ahead before starting any practicum in the state. That rule has since been repealed, and the board's APRN FAQ now answers no when asked if an out-of-state APRN program must obtain its approval to put students in Oregon clinicals.
Pre-licensure PN and RN programs from elsewhere still notify the board, one form per track, renewed every year. Two conditions reach every outside program. Its Oregon-based faculty must be licensed by Oregon's nursing board, and before Oregon residents can enroll, the school needs authorization from either Oregon's Higher Education Coordinating Commission or NC-SARA.
AANP rates Oregon full practice. Kaiser Permanente's Northwest region, Samaritan Health Services, OHSU, Providence Oregon and Legacy Health are major systems. The Oregon side of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metro holds close to 2 million people, and Salem, Eugene-Springfield and Bend come next.

Questions TTUHSC students ask
Can an Oregon nurse start TTUHSC's pediatric NP track?
Not while living in Oregon. The pediatric primary care and pediatric acute care tracks are MSN APRN tracks, and TTUHSC's disclosure pairs Oregon's "Meets" with the note that its School of Nursing cannot take graduate students living there. Once Texas or an unflagged state is home, TTUHSC's Admissions Team can confirm you are eligible to apply.
Oregon dropped its approval rule. Why is it still on TTUHSC's list?
TTUHSC's disclosure does not give reasons for its marks, and Oregon's board rules and TTUHSC's list are separate things. The 2021 repeal concerns what Oregon asks of outside programs; the double asterisk is TTUHSC's own statement about which students it can accept. For the current position, ask TTUHSC's Admissions Team directly.
Would living in Vancouver, Washington, change the answer?
No. Washington carries the same note on TTUHSC's licensure page, so the Washington side of the Portland metro is closed to TTUHSC's graduate tracks too. Among Oregon's neighbors, Idaho and Nevada are the states without the mark. The Idaho and Washington guides cover each state's own rules.
What if I'm a TTUHSC student planning a move to Oregon?
Plan the conversation before the move. TTUHSC asks every graduate online student for at least 60 days' notice before relocating to another state, and approval there depends on a case-by-case review of the placement you propose.
