Taking a TTUHSC nurse practitioner track from Ohio
Ohio earns a Meets on each of TTUHSC's graduate nursing tables, and Ohio law lets NP students from programs in other states train there without a Board filing. The detail to plan around is who supervises you, because the statute that exempts APRN students names an APRN.

Ohio law and the student from another state
Nursing programs from other states face no approval or notice requirement from the Ohio Board of Nursing. Ohio's approach runs through exemptions in the Revised Code. Under section 4723.32(F), an APRN student may practice in Ohio when the program leads to eligibility for an approved national certification exam, or is a qualifying graduate program, and the work happens under the program's auspices.
The exemption comes with a condition: the supervising clinician has to be an advanced practice registered nurse working for the program as faculty, a teaching assistant or a preceptor. For a TTUHSC rotation in Ohio, that points the search toward NP preceptors, so ask your course faculty before planning a rotation around a physician alone. TTUHSC takes part in NC-SARA, the interstate agreement covering distance education.

None of this settles admission. TTUHSC's graduate pages note that, with rules in flux, eligibility for some states cannot be confirmed at the point of application, so an Ohio applicant should get an answer from the Admissions Team before applying.
Compact license and a career-long collaboration rule
Ohio's place in the compact dates from January 1, 2023. In the Ohio Board's explanation, you hold one multistate license, issued where you primarily live, and it lets you practice in the other compact states. A current, unencumbered Ohio multistate license clears the MSN's license bar (license guide).
AANP rates Ohio reduced practice. Every Ohio NP in practice works under a standard care arrangement for their whole career, signed with a physician or podiatrist collaborator, and the setting limits Schedule II prescribing. Your preceptor's practice runs inside that framework. Ohio has not enacted the APRN Compact.
Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Dayton
No single city dominates Ohio. Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati each top two million residents, with the Cincinnati metro stretching into Kentucky and Indiana, and Dayton-Kettering-Beavercreek comes next.
In Cleveland, look to Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. Bon Secours Mercy Health is headquartered in Cincinnati, while OhioHealth and Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center are both in Columbus. These systems show where clinicians concentrate. Each keeps its own rules for students, and TTUHSC's approval is a separate track.
Neighbors and moves
Pennsylvania, along Ohio's eastern edge, sits on TTUHSC's closed list, so a Pennsylvania site or a move there is worth raising early. Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and West Virginia are open states, each with rules of its own. Relocating anywhere means telling TTUHSC 60 or more days in advance, after which the new state's clinical approval is weighed on its own facts (moving guide).

Can Ohio residents apply to TTUHSC's online NP programs?
All three of TTUHSC's graduate tables, covering the MSN NP tracks, midwifery and the BSN to DNP, list Ohio as Meets. TTUHSC decides admission, and the Admissions Team confirms eligibility for Ohio applicants before they apply. Compare tracks starting with the FNP program page.
Could an Ohio physician precept my NP rotation?
Ohio's APRN-student exemption expects the supervising clinician to be an APRN working for the program in some role. A rotation led only by a physician may not line up with that wording, so ask your course faculty before committing. TTUHSC's approval decides every preceptor; see the preceptor requirements page.
When could I start a TTUHSC program from Ohio?
The MSN nurse practitioner tracks admit in Fall or Spring, except the PMHNP, which starts in Spring only. Both DNP entry routes, BSN to DNP and Post-Master's, start in summer. Rotations do not open the program: the MSN PMHNP's first clinical course comes about a year after its Spring start, which leaves time to line up an Ohio preceptor.
How many campus days does an Ohio student need?
The MSN nurse practitioner and midwifery tracks keep in-person time to 7-8 days for the entire program, and the OSCEs among them happen in Lubbock. Doctoral students travel more: the BSN to DNP has a one- or two-day campus visit every semester, spread over Lubbock, Austin and Dallas, and Post-Master's DNP students attend intensives twice each semester, based in Lubbock.
