A board focused on first-licensure programs
Indiana's nursing board accredits only the in-state schools that prepare graduates for a first RN or LPN license. The board's education page leaves RN-BSN and all graduate nursing programs outside its review in so many words, and the eligible-program rule at 848 IAC 1-2-4 speaks only of pre-licensure RN and PN schools. Nothing in the Board's material asks an out-of-state graduate program to get permission before its students train at Indiana clinics.
So an Indiana rotation hinges on TTUHSC's own steps: approving the preceptor, approving the facility, any agreement that facility requires, and the electronic agreement filed per preceptor per semester. Indiana's compact license and TTUHSC's MSN rule
TTUHSC's MSN admission rule calls for an unencumbered RN license, either from Texas or carrying compact multistate status. An Indiana resident with a multistate Indiana license already matches that; pull up your license record and confirm the designation before applying. Keep in mind that the compact reaches RN practice rather than advanced practice, so your eventual NP license is its own process. AANP files Indiana under reduced practice: state law ties at least one piece of every Indiana NP's practice to a regulated physician collaboration. An NP preceptor in Indiana therefore brings that arrangement along, and TTUHSC weighs the preceptor and the site on its own criteria regardless.
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and two neighbors' metros
Indianapolis-Carmel-Greenwood leads Indiana's metros, and Fort Wayne is next. Two metros centered in other states also spill in: greater Chicago takes in Northwest Indiana, and the Louisville area covers a stretch of Southern Indiana. Parkview Health, Ascension St. Vincent, Indiana University Health, Community Health Network and Franciscan Health are among the systems employing Indiana NPs. Those names sketch the landscape; they are not a roster of TTUHSC sites.
Border towns bring a wrinkle. Illinois has never adopted the compact, so a Chicago clinic will not recognize your Indiana multistate license. Louisville sites sit in Kentucky, a compact state that sets its own licensing expectations for whoever oversees APRN students there. Add a cross-border clinic to your list only with TTUHSC's go-ahead.

Because state rules keep shifting, TTUHSC's graduate pages hold back from promising at the application stage that the school can enroll students from every state, and anyone applying from outside Texas is told to confirm eligibility with the Admissions Team first. Questions TTUHSC students ask
Must the Indiana Board clear TTUHSC before my clinicals start?
Indiana's Board limits its review to first-licensure RN and LPN programs and states that graduate nursing programs sit outside it; its rules contain no permission step for graduate programs based in other states. The approvals that govern your Indiana rotation are TTUHSC's: the preceptor, the facility and the per-semester preceptor agreement.
I live in Northwest Indiana. Can my preceptor be in Chicago?
Only with TTUHSC's approval and a license Illinois honors. Being a non-compact state, Illinois ignores Indiana multistate licenses at its clinics, and it keeps a separate filing rule for nursing programs from elsewhere. For most students there, an Indiana-side site is the simpler path.
Is Indiana among the states TTUHSC cannot accept graduate students from?
No. TTUHSC's list of states it is unable to accept graduate students from names ten states, plus South Dakota for the BSN to DNP, and Indiana is not one of them. Indiana is marked Meets for the MSN NP tracks, Nurse-Midwifery and the BSN to DNP. Admissions still decides eligibility for each applicant.
Can a physician precept me in Indiana?
Texas's rule for APRN programs lets them use APRNs or other currently licensed professionals able to supervise and teach at an advanced practice level, and TTUHSC approves each preceptor. Your course faculty decide whether a given physician suits the course; the preceptor requirements page explains the rule.
