Studying with TTUHSC while you live in Florida
Floridians can look seriously at TTUHSC's graduate nurse practitioner tracks: the state carries no unable-to-accept mark, and its Board of Nursing approves only programs that train nurses for first licensure. That leaves the rotation itself, a preceptor and facility near you that TTUHSC approves, as the real work.

How the Florida Board sees an out-of-state NP program
Florida's program-approval law (s. 464.019) is written for schools that want to offer prelicensure nursing education in Florida; the Board speaks of its approval role the same way. The research behind this guide turned up no Florida provision that makes an APRN or graduate program from outside Florida apply to the Board, or even send it notice, ahead of a student's clinical hours.
Compared with neighboring Alabama, where the school must file in advance, Florida is lighter. TTUHSC's checks carry over unchanged: the preceptor and the site each need School of Nursing approval, and each preceptor gets an electronic preceptor agreement every semester.
Compact license, restricted practice
Florida's compact licensing started in January 2018. When Florida is home and your RN license is marked multistate, TTUHSC's MSN condition is covered: it takes an active Texas RN license or a compact multistate license, as long as nothing encumbers it. TTUHSC's handbook asks DNP students for a current U.S. RN license, and the license guide sorts out where the program pages differ.
AANP groups Florida with the restricted states, Texas among them. Some Florida NPs must practice under a physician protocol agreement throughout their careers, exemptions aside, so expect many preceptors you meet to practice under that kind of agreement.
TEACH, Florida's facility reimbursement program, pays certain safety-net sites (rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers and similar) for training hours when funds are appropriated. The students who count must attend accredited programs located in Florida, which leaves a TTUHSC rotation outside it.

A Meets mark opens the door to an application; it does not settle admission. Regulations shift, so TTUHSC's graduate pages decline to promise at submission that every state's residents can be taken, and Florida applicants should clear eligibility with TTUHSC Admissions before applying.
Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville
The South Florida metro around Miami is the state's biggest, and the Tampa Bay, Orlando and Jacksonville areas follow. AdventHealth, headquartered in the state, and HCA Florida Healthcare are among the big names, joined by UF Health, Baptist Health South Florida and BayCare Health System. Use the list to orient your search rather than as a roster of TTUHSC sites; each facility answers for itself, and TTUHSC approves it.
Campus time still means Texas: 7 to 8 days across the MSN NP tracks with OSCEs in Lubbock, and at least one visit per semester in the BSN to DNP, with intensives in Lubbock, Austin and Dallas. If you relocate out of Florida mid-program, TTUHSC needs 60 days' notice first (moving guide).

Can I complete TTUHSC's online FNP from Florida?
Florida is marked as meeting requirements for TTUHSC's MSN nurse practitioner tracks, and no unable-to-accept note appears beside it. Admission is still TTUHSC's decision, and applicants living outside Texas are asked to check eligibility with Admissions. The FNP program page covers credits, starts and clinicals.
Does TTUHSC need Florida Board approval before my clinical hours?
Florida's approval law targets prelicensure schools, and nothing found in Florida's rules asks an out-of-state school's NP students, or the school, to register or send notice first. For your rotation, the governing step is TTUHSC approving your preceptor and facility.
Will my Florida clinic receive TEACH funding for training me?
No. TEACH reimburses facilities only for students whose accredited programs are in Florida, so hours spent training a TTUHSC student bring the facility nothing under it. The program also depends on state appropriations from year to year.
Is a Florida multistate license enough for TTUHSC's MSN?
Yes, if it is current and unencumbered. TTUHSC accepts a compact multistate license in place of a Texas RN license, and Florida has issued licenses under the compact since 2018. A single-state Florida license would not match that wording, so check your status first.
