Living in Colorado: where TTUHSC's graduate tracks stand
Colorado's entry on TTUHSC's licensure disclosure carries the note "TTUHSC SON is unable to accept graduate students from this state." As long as Colorado is where you live, TTUHSC's online MSN, midwifery and BSN to DNP tracks are out of reach. TTUHSC's programs, read for a Colorado address
TTUHSC builds its disclosure program by program, and Colorado looks the same in each graduate table. The MSN APRN tracks show "Meets" with the double-asterisk note attached, and the note appears again for Nurse-Midwifery and the BSN to DNP. Put plainly, the School of Nursing is not enrolling graduate students who live in Colorado.

What would change the answer
Your address is the variable. Relocating to Texas, or to a state TTUHSC has not flagged, brings the graduate tracks back into play. TTUHSC's graduate program pages still caution that evolving regulations keep it from committing, when you apply, to accepting students from every state, so check with its Admissions Team before you submit anything.
Your license is the second variable. Colorado has been a compact state since January 2018, so plenty of Colorado RNs already hold the multistate license type TTUHSC's MSN tracks accept alongside a Texas one. That multistate status depends on where you primarily reside, so ask both boards what a move does to yours. The RN license guide lays out TTUHSC's side.
Colorado's nursing rules at a glance
Colorado's State Board of Nursing is part of the state's regulatory agencies department, working through the Division of Professions and Occupations. Its approval rule for schools, found at 3 CCR 716-1 as Rule 1.2, is written for programs leading to a first RN or LPN license, and out-of-state graduate and APRN programs face no approval or notice step there. Colorado's student permit is not a general placement permit either: it serves people from out-of-state nontraditional programs, with no faculty-supervised clinicals, who still need Colorado hours to be licensed.
AANP rates Colorado full practice. Preceptors can also claim Colorado's rural and frontier preceptor tax credit, a state income tax break for those precepting unpaid in shortage areas. HB22-1005 carried it through tax years beginning before 2033, let RNs and other licensed professionals in outpatient care qualify, and counted only students at accredited Colorado schools, which appears to leave out-of-state students outside it.
Denver Health, UCHealth, Intermountain Health, CommonSpirit Health and HCA HealthONE are among the major systems. Roughly 3.09 million people lived in the Denver-Aurora-Centennial metro in 2025, with Colorado Springs, Greeley and Fort Collins-Loveland next.

Can a Colorado resident enroll in TTUHSC's PMHNP program?
Not while living in Colorado. The state appears on TTUHSC's list of places whose graduate students the School of Nursing is unable to accept, which covers both the MSN PMHNP and the BSN to DNP PMHNP. If you are relocating, TTUHSC's Admissions Team can confirm whether your new state is eligible before you put an application together.
Which of Colorado's neighbors does TTUHSC accept graduate students from?
Of Colorado's seven neighbors, only Arizona carries the "unable to accept" note. Kansas is open for the MSN NP tracks but reads "Does not meet" for Nurse-Midwifery and the BSN to DNP. New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, Wyoming and Nebraska carry no mark in these tables, and New Mexico and Oklahoma both border Texas, which shortens trips to campus.
What is the 750-hour requirement for Colorado NPs?
Colorado grants NPs full practice, yet AANP notes one condition on prescribing: each NP must attest to having 750 hours of experience under a mentorship agreement, the mentor being a physician or an APRN. That matters if you finish a TTUHSC program elsewhere and later want to practice in Colorado, so check the rule with the Colorado board when the time comes.
I'm a TTUHSC student. Could I move to Colorado partway through?
Any graduate online student must notify TTUHSC at least 60 days before relocating, and board approval is decided case by case around the proposed placement. Colorado is one of the flagged states, so a move there puts your enrollment in question. Speak with your program director first and read the moving guide.
