New York residents and TTUHSC's nurse practitioner tracks
New York is one of the ten states where TTUHSC's licensure page says: "TTUHSC SON is unable to accept graduate students from this state." If New York is home, the School of Nursing's online graduate tracks are closed to you for now. A move is what reopens them, and New York's own system, run through its Education Department rather than a standalone board, is worth understanding before you plan one.

Your TTUHSC options while you live in New York
The note follows New York through each graduate table. The MSN APRN row reads "Meets" yet carries the double asterisk, and the Nurse-Midwifery and BSN to DNP rows repeat it. For a New Yorker, none of TTUHSC's graduate nursing tracks can take you while your home is in the state.

Moving? Two things to line up
First, eligibility. A move to Texas or an unflagged state reopens the question, and TTUHSC's graduate pages ask out-of-state applicants to check with its Admissions Team, because changing regulations affect which states it can take students from. Name the state you will live in during the program.
Second, the license. New York stays outside the Nurse Licensure Compact, and NYSED steers RNs licensed in other states toward its checklist for getting a New York license. A license New York issues therefore carries no multistate privilege. TTUHSC's MSN tracks need an unencumbered Texas RN license or a multistate license under the compact, so a New York nurse bound for Texas should plan on a Texas license. How New York oversees nursing education
Rather than a standalone board, New York oversees nursing from its Education Department, through the Office of the Professions, where the State Board for Nursing sits. Outside programs meet a wide rule there. Before any New York clinical rotation, NYSED expects a nursing program based in another state, or delivered online, to hold its registration or approval, with VA and U.S. Armed Forces facilities as the stated exception. NP education follows the same line: the NP program itself must be registered, and NYSED tells NP students that a rotation outside a registered program might break the law.
SARA membership changes nothing here. In NYSED's view, a clinical placement in any licensed profession counts as physical presence in the state, and the Office of the Professions has to approve it in advance or grant an exemption.
AANP rates New York full practice, though newer NPs begin with a collaborating physician: until an NP reaches 3,600 practice hours, a written agreement and protocols govern the work. Major systems include Mount Sinai, NYC Health + Hospitals, Northwell Health, NewYork-Presbyterian and, upstate, the University of Rochester Medical Center. Roughly 13 million people live in the New York part of the New York City metro, ahead of Buffalo and Rochester.

Questions TTUHSC students ask
Can I do TTUHSC's online AGACNP from New York?
Not while you live there. New York is on TTUHSC's list of states whose graduate students the School of Nursing is unable to accept, and the MSN AGACNP is covered by that note like every other graduate track. If Texas or an accepted state will be home by the first term, ask TTUHSC's Admissions Team to confirm eligibility before you apply.
Would working at a VA facility in New York change TTUHSC's answer?
No. NYSED's exception for federal Armed Forces and VA facilities belongs to its own registration rule for clinical rotations. TTUHSC's note concerns where its graduate students live, so a New York resident stays outside TTUHSC's graduate tracks whichever employer they work for. The address you hold during the program is what counts.
Which states next to New York does TTUHSC accept?
New York's neighbors split. Pennsylvania carries the same "unable to accept" note, while New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont do not, and their MSN APRN rows read "Meets". I'm enrolled at TTUHSC and may move to New York. What should I do?
Tell the School of Nursing early. TTUHSC requires at least 60 days' notice before any graduate online student relocates to another state, and approval in the new state is decided case by case around the proposed placement.
